Webinar: Community-Based Protection in Urban Areas

The UNHCR Community-Based Protection Team in Geneva and the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) in Malaysia will present on the role of community-based protection for refugees in urban settings in a webinar on Wednesday 13 May at at 10:00 am (CET)

This webinar will introduce UNHCR’s community-based protection approach and explain how it draws on the knowledge, skills and experience of persons of concern to UNCHR to identify and address key protection issues.

Using the experience of the urban refugee context of Malaysia as a case study, ICMC will present on good practices, lessons learned and challenges from community-based models for urban refugees, and explore how continued capacity-building efforts can support refugees to effectively and actively take ownership to increase protection within their own communities.
