The IASC met on 13 May 2015 to decide on the extension or deactivation of the System-wide Level 3 (L3) Emergency responses in the Central African Republic, South Sudan and Iraq. Participants had a substantive discussion on the nature and challenges of L3s. They reaffirmed the original purpose of the L3 activation, which was to surge and mobilize capacity to enable scaled-up delivery of assistance and protection to people in need through enhanced leadership and coordination.
