Supporting the Future of Syria and The Region: Brussels V Conference - March 29th-30th, 2021

The European Union and the United Nations will co-chair the fifth Brussels Conference on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region” on 29 and 30 March 2021. In view of COVID-19 restrictions, the Conference will take place in a virtual format.

The website for the Conference is online and it will be constantly updated with more information, including the updated information on side events.

Campaign “The graffiti that triggered it all”

To mark the 10 years of the Syrian uprising and in preparation of the Brussels V Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region, the EU is launching an integrated communications campaign that recounts what happened ten years ago through ten illustrations. By focusing on the origins of the conflict, the campaign in itself is talking about today, countering disinformation through positive communication and through a factual account of events. The campaign “The graffiti that triggered it all” starts on social media on March 15 on the EEAS Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts. Please follow the hashtag for the campaign and for the Conference #SyriaConf2021.

Side Event: Leaving no one behind: leveraging partnerships, technology and trust in cash-based interventions for the Syria response.

With food insecurity reaching record levels in the region, this event will showcase case-based interventions as an effective modality of assistance for refugees, displaced persons and other vulnerable populations in achieving food security and related sector outcomes. Whether it is a complex emergency such as Syria or a host country such as Jordan, cash has been an innovative way to reach those most in need. This event will highlight voices and best practices from the field in an interactive panel discussion. To register, click here.

Side Event:  "Life Suspended: a decade trapped in Limbo"
