Make or break: The implications of COVID-19 for crisis financing

The report: Make or break – the implications of Covid-19 for crisis financing

NRC commissioned this study to reflect on what the Covid-19 pandemic response tells us about the fitness of the international crisis financing system. Crises provide moments of opportunity for policymakers. Ideas that were once politically inconceivable become mainstream, forgotten policy proposals are revisited and neglected issues are suddenly prioritised.

The webinar:  15 September at 15:00 to 16:30 PM CEST. NRC and PHAP are organising a webinar to discuss the main findings and recommendations emerging from NRC's report.

They will be joined by Jan Egeland, NRC Secretary General; Mark Lowcock, Emergency Relief Coordinator; Susanne Mikhail, Head of Humanitarian Aid at Sida; Hibak Kalfan, Director of the NEAR Network; and, Ben Parker, Senior Editor at The New Humanitarian. The panel will be moderated by Angharad Laing (Executive Director, PHAP) and will engage in a discussion on the role and fitness of the existing humanitarian financing structure and on how the system should evolve to be able to respond to crises of this complexity.
